Italian prisons - places of condemnation due to overcrowding and inhuman and degrading conditions - have been the scene of riots that caused 14 deaths and many wounded after the start of the pandemic: why did they occur? What forms of conflict were there in the prisons before the pandemic and which ones during it? What kind of violence developed during that period? What did these days of open conflict leave behind? The intervention aims to try to answer these questions by reconstructing the facts and proposing a critical theoretical framework on the forms of abuse and conflicts in prison with a focus on the types of violence: symbolic, political, structural and how to define the structural suffering of prisoners in general and in particular after years of physical suffering, fear of the virus and worsening living conditions in prisons, from a qualitative methodological approach and unstructured interviews with prison administration employees.Esta contribución quiere proponer una reflexión sobre las formas de conflicto en las cárceles italianas antes y después de dos años del inicio de la pandemia. Las cárceles italianas -lugares de condena por sobrepoblación y condiciones inhumanas y degradantes- han sido escenario de motines que causaron 14 muertos y muchos heridos tras el inicio de la pandemia: ¿por qué se produjeron? ¿Qué formas de conflicto había en las cárceles antes de la pandemia y cuáles durante la misma? ¿Qué tipo de violencia se desarrolló durante ese periodo? ¿Qué dejaron estos días de conflicto abierto?
