This paper explores the position of the Council of Europe, especially that of the Strasbourg Court, on the relationship between freedom of expression and freedom of religion through blasphemy, hate speech and offenses to religious feelings. The complex position of the ECtHR is closely linked to the defense of religious peace in a social context marked in recent years by terrorist threats and attacks on the media in Europe.En 2021, hubo dos iniciativas parlamentarias en España encaminadas a la modificación y/o derogación del artículo 525 del Código penal, relativo a las ofensas a los sentimientos religiosos, que justificaron la bondad de dichos cambios en la necesidad de adaptación de nuestra legislación penal a la jurisprudencia del Tribunal Europeo de Derechos Humanos(TEDH). Este trabajo indaga en la posición del Consejo de Europa, especialmente en la del Tribunal de Estrasburgo, sobre la relación entre libertad de expresión y libertad religiosa a través de la blasfemia, los discursos de odio y las ofensas a los sentimientos religiosos.
