Summary: The aim of this study is to provide an overview of the inclusion of social and environmental considerations in the field of energy public procurement. In order to achieve this goal, we address, as a preliminary approach, the procurement’s strategic vision and its confluence within electricity supply contracts is. Subsequently, we analyse the social and environmental foundations upon which the corresponding criteria, which will be incorporated in energy tenders, are built. Finally, we study and contrast these theoretical premises in the light of the most relevant pronouncements on the matter.
