Environmental compensation measures are a necessary part of both actions derived from an environmental impact assessment and environmental responsibility. The regulation of diversity of compensation mechanisms allows the application of the most appropriate for the specific situation in each case. Consequently, the examination of the different solutions provided by comparative law is a necessary task. Within these compensation measures, the examination of other experiences shows that biodiversity conservation banks are a complex mechanism, which requires a carefully designed legal regime and management capacity, but which can be very useful by providing the necessary minimum extensions of land for a useful effect, anticipation in the compensation and collaboration of private funds in actions to restore or recreate habitats. |
