The following study aims to address the theme of children and teenagers’ digital abandon, as well as to identify the possibility of parental responsibility for negligence regarding children’s monitor while using the internet. This approach will seek to characterize as abandon, according to the Brazilian legislation, identify some of the risks of the unassisted exposition of children and teenagers to the cyber world and verify the possibility of making parents responsible for the digital abandon, bringing decisions from the Brazilian court related to the theme. Considering the easy access to the internet and parents’ distraction, children and teenagers may be placed in a risky position surrounded by the virtual world, and therefore the analysis of the theme may contribute for the reflection about the parental care obligation so that children are protected in this atmosphere, which might be considered the new street of today. |
