Summary: The article aims to approach feminist dystopian literature as a background in denouncing the invisibility and naturalization of violence against women in current Brazilian society, from the perspective of critical theory of human rights. It is argued, based on Žižek and Yebra, that patriarchal ideology desensitizes society to manifestations of violence against women. Literature can represent a starting point for social awareness. In this sense, the works The handmaid’s tale, by Margaret Atwood, and The power, by Naomi Alderman, are analyzed. Based on David Sánchez Rubio’s works, we seek to expose the approximation between the purposes of dystopian literature and critical theory of human rights in denaturalizing inequalities and rejecting complacency regarding the distance between the theory and practice of human rights.
