Summary: This study proposes an exploratory approach to the different conceptions of walls of shame in the face of governance carried out by countries seeking to control migratory flows. From the qualitative paradigm, framed in hermeneutics and phenomenology, the main conceptions related to walls of shame as a means to stop migration in international contexts, motivated mainly by countries suffering economic crises and wars, are synthesized. The analysis shows various current representations of the walls of shame. Despite the existence of extensive international regulations on migration, there is a marked presence and proliferation of these walls in order to prevent the free mobility of migrants, who seek to improve their living conditions. This research represents an innovative contribution to the study of migration from the perspective of the walls of shame, a practice that continues to be carried out today in the context of governance and democracy.
