Summary: This article analyzes the responses of the three government orders in Mexico that, according to their distribution of powers, should respond in a coordinated manner to the covid-19 pandemic. It focuses specifically on the supply of drinking water for human consumption and hygiene. The institutional incapacities, the lack of preparation to face the risks, the lack of medium or longterm planning, and the scarce budget dedicated to the water sector became evident. Consequently, it increasingly diminished during the health, water, and climate crises. Further, the abandonment of health, education, and labor policies increased the harmful effects of the health crisis
