Summary: Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises are decisive economic agents in the world economy, being central actors in the productive and social fabric of countries, being great generators of employment, which guarantees sustained demand, these drive progress and give society a healthy balance. However, there are situations that prevent their sustainability in the market such as: little access to financing, limited information, informality and political instability, so it was investigated what is the role of MIPYME in the current market of Ecuador. concluding that MIPYME in Ecuador represent 99.55% of the business fabric, but it is microenterprises that represent the highest percentage with 90.78% followed by small enterprises with 7.22% and finally medium-sized enterprises with 1.55%; developing mostly within the trade and services sectors.
