Summary: The events that occur today in Afghanistan are not the result of chance or destiny, but of multiple confrontations, wars and crises in which the country has been involved over the years, which is why, through a review Historical documentary and in line with chaos theory, this paper aims to explain the social and political effects that were generated in Afghanistan from the Russian intervention in the framework of the Cold War and that continue to this day. For such purposes, the historical background of the country is presented, the description of the Russian intervention and how it is related to the emergence of groups related to radical Islamism, and finally, how all these events described ended up leaving a country at the mercy of the exploiting powers or violent extremist groups.
