Summary: Transparency and participation are two basic parts of the democratic machinery. The defence, promotion and protection of these two principles is essential to ensure the democratic survival of societies. However, in this constant democratic action, there are dangers such as corruption, which threatens the democratic reality by destroying its roots. Every society is susceptible, by its very human nature, to being attacked by corruption. In the face of this, education appears as a basic element to foster societies educated in democratic values that achieve the protection and defence of democratic scenarios. It is fundamental to provide information and ensuring that it is understood and interpreted by citizens for them to actively participate in public affairs. Therefore, in order to foster democratic spaces, a strong commitment to education in democratic values is required, and transparency and citizen participation must be established as solid foundations.
