Enfermedad de Alzheimer
description
Alzheimer's disease is an unavoidable neurological disorder in which the death of brain cells causes memory loss and cognitive impairment that leads to dementia, being the most common cause of dementia in the elderly. Generally, it devel-ops in people over 65 years of age, increasing its incidence in those patients of even older age. It is considered one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Alzheimer's causes shrinkage of the brain due to the progressive loss of nerve cells and connections. Today, there is no known cure for this disease, because the death of brain cells in dementia cannot be stopped or reversed. There are also no modifying drugs available for Alzheimer's, however, some options may reduce your symptoms and help improve quality of life and therefore help patients to some extent. In this sense, through the following bibliographic review, it is sought to publicize the necessary measures to help patients suffering from this disease, addition-ally it seeks to expand support to people and caregivers to optimize awareness and commitment that improve quality and effectiveness of care.
