Summary: The following article stresses the necessity of outlining the obligations of university educators-within their character as public servants-in light of the multiple legal orders which may be applied to them. In order to do so, the standardizing normativity for teaching endeavors will be analyzed, thus emphasizing the obligations that are imposed both generally and specifically (i.e. discrimination and gender violence). The subject hereby mentioned displays an important significance considering the new juridical framework of sanctions, procedures and responsibilities deriving from the Ley General de Responsabilidades de los Servidores Públicos, which the university level teacher faces in case they neglect their duties. The issue is accentuated by the plurality of obligations contained in general norms, protocols, ethic codes, internal agreements and specific norms in regards to discrimination and gender violence, all of which situate the teacher in a position of uncertainty, stemming from the lack of delineation in the aforementioned obligations.
