Summary: This article introduces the institution of the revocation of the political mandate and the change of vision and paradigm that it may entail by including it in constitutional systems. It analyzes the institution in the different constitutions that include it, although it focuses on the constitutions of Latin America, differentiating the treatment given to this institution in traditional Latin American constitutionalism, as well as in the New Latin American Constitutionalism. There is a substantial difference between the two: the inclusion of the revocation of the mandate as an instrument of participatory democracy, or its inclusion as a way of understanding the political system of a country, where citizens once again have a direct voice with respect to the actions of their political representatives, introducing a rethinking of the imperative mandate.
