Summary: Within the scope of the tenth anniversary since the telecommunications market opened in Costa Rica, it is relevant to look back and assess the path traveled until now. Certainly, this process has presented many challenges; however, it has also confirmed the significance of the powers conferred to the Superintendency of Telecommunications (SUTEL) to promote competition. Nonetheless, to date, there is a transition process that has not yet been completed. This poses an enormous challenge regarding the deployment of new technologies considering that only some services have been declared in effective competition.
