In this paper we analyse how a sample of Spanish victims go through the criminal procedure, something that is quite unknown in our country. In particular, we compare the perceptions about the criminal justice system, crime and well-being, among victims and general population. We also analyse which variables influence on the satisfaction with the judicial experience of the victims. For this purpose, an online survey was administered to 949 subjects recruited from an online panel of 470.000 people provided by Dynata, 157 of whom have had experience as a crime victim. The results show that there are statistically significant differences between victims and non-victims in perceptions of quality of treatment, fear of crime and life satisfaction. In addition, we show how victims' satisfaction with the judicial experience depends on the opportunity for participation provided by the judge and the perception that their opinion is considered. Finally, it has also been shown that the cold atmosphere of the judicial facilities has a negative influence on their satisfaction.

Finally, it has also been shown that the cold atmosphere of the judicial facilities has a negative influence on their satisfaction.El objetivo de este trabajo es explorar cómo es el paso por el procedimiento penal de una muestra de víctimas españolas que, por lo general, es bastante desconocido en nuestro país. Especialmente se abordan cómo son las percepciones respecto al sistema penal, al delito y su bienestar comparándolas con las de la población general. También se analiza qué variables influyen en la satisfacción con la experiencia judicial de las víctimas. Para ello se ha administrado una encuesta on line a 949 sujetos pertenecientes a un panel de la empresa Dynata de los cuales 157 han tenido experiencia como víctima de un delito. Los resultados demuestran que existen diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre víctimas y no víctimas en las percepciones de calidad de trato, de miedo al delito conductual y de satisfacción con la vida. Además, se muestra cómo la satisfacción con la experiencia judicial de las víctimas depende de la oportunidad de participación que brinde el juez a estas y la percepción de que su opinión es tenida en cuenta. También se ha comprobado que influye negativamente en su satisfacción el ambiente frío que presentan las instalaciones judiciales. En definitiva, los resultados obtenidos demuestran que el paso de las víctimas por el proceso penal no es fácil y genera consecuencias negativas.
