This is composed not only of members of the ECJ but also of national courts and tribunals which may be called upon to rule on questions concerning the application or interpretation of European Union Law. Since it is a single Judiciary, both national and European courts are subject to the same rules and principles, including the guarantee of independence. This guarantee of judicial independence covers the procedure for appointment to a position as judge, the task of adjudication itself (without neither internal nor external pressures) as well as the exceptional conditions that may allow the dismissal of judges. Received: 25.05.2022Accepted: 14.06.2022El TJUE ha afirmado, a partir de una inédita interpretación del artículo 19.1 2º TUE, la existencia de un Poder Judicial Europeo único, compuesto tanto por los jueces del Tribunal de Justicia, como por aquellos jueces nacionales que puedan pronunciarse sobre la aplicación o interpretación del derecho de la Unión. En tanto que poder judicial único, unos y otros quedan sometidos a las mismas reglas y a los mismos principios, incluyendo la garantía de su independencia. Una garantía de independencia que se proyecta sobre los procedimientos de nombramiento de jueces, sobre el ejercicio mismo de la función jurisdiccional (sin presiones internas ni externas), así como sobre las excepcionales condiciones que permiten la remoción del puesto de juez.
