description
In Ecuador, gender violence represents a serious situation due to its increasing rates, especially in recent years. From these indices it can be deduced that, despite international agreements and national legislation, discrimination against Ecuadorian women still persists; and that these figures warn about the great challenge that the country has to generate public policies that guarantee the rights of women and girls. By virtue of the above, this review aims to summarize what is related to the public policies established in Ecuador against Gender Violence. The research was carried out under a bibliographic documentary type methodology, under the review modality. From the review it can be deduced that the public policies generated against gender violence in Ecuador were born with the National Plan for the Eradication of Gender Violence against Children, Adolescents and Women, which represented the first State policy to incorporate the approach of gender decreed in Ecuadorian history in 2007. Important achievements have been highlighted in the enactment of laws and implementation of various public policies, however, based on the figures published by the INEC and other organizations, which demonstrate the growing incidence of violence of gender in Ecuador, in its various forms, it seems that what has been established to date has been insufficient. The State must unite efforts in the creation of new, more effective public policies that guarantee the decrease in the current figures of violence. Likewise, it is important not to lose sight of the goal of eradicating violence against women and girls.
