As humanity increases, the demand for water grows, it is extracted in an amount greater than its natural recharge. The objective of this research is to evaluate overexploitation of deep wells and irregular drilling in coastal aquifers of Manabi. The research has a non-experimental descriptive design, because it is carried out without the manipulation of the variables and by evaluating aspects related to the authority of Environment in Ecuador. For the collection of information, a survey was designed, structured according to the Likert scale. Then, it was validated by expert criterio before being applied to benefited users of the aquifer, considering a population of 1,200 users who use and/or take advantage of the water resource in different activities, with replica in several sites of the object of study. For the sample, the statistical formula was applied, leaving a total of 292 people to survey. Finally, a correlation was made between the information
obtained and studies of other coastal aquifers. As a conclusion, there is coincidence in the decrease of the water table as an effect of the overexploitation and mishandling of the object of study. Based on the results, it is evaluated that the Cantagallo aquifer is used mainly for human consumption and risk, being supported by government organizations, community boards and are trained for the proper use and exploitation of water resources
