Actors, situations, intensions, codes, and instruments are involved in communicative events, which are deciphered by the communication interlocutors. In addition, orality allows for a performance that makes it somehow theatrical, as can be seen in markets. These spaces are presented as mosaics where a series of statements converge that allow negotiation when buying and selling. Accordingly, this research aims to understand how orality is presented in the El Arenal market in Cuenca and what are the rhetorical strategies used by merchants to sell their products. This is an ethnographic study using observation as the main technique as well as the registration of linguistic uses of both sellers and buyers. The main results indicate that both sellers and buyers use discursive constructions that allow them to guarantee the quality, quantity, and the price of the product. |
