Summary: Currently, we are living through a technological revolution, which has reached the financial system. Companies that offer financial products and services that leverage technology to be more efficient and to offer users effective solutions related to finance, known as FinTech, have become more common. However, the novelty and innovation given by FinTech companies do not only offer advantages to users and the market, but also challenges for regulators, as they must balance protecting constitutional assets while ensuring a suitable legal ecosystem for the development of innovations in technological and financial matters. In light of this, an alternative that seems to balance the aforementioned factors is the implementation of a regulatory sandbox: a controlled space where FinTech companies can live test their innovative financial products and services. Regulators from all over the world have been implementing sandboxes in their respective jurisdictions with encouraging results. In this sense, due to its flexibility and adaptability to different legal systems and contexts, the implementation of a regulatory sandbox is an attractive alternative for the development of the FinTech industry in Peru.
