This article summarized the occupational health activities carried out by the Copper Workers Federation (FTC), a major Chilean trade union representing 28 unions and more than 13,000 workers employed in CODELCO, the national copper company. Objective: To summarize the
occupational health and health promotion actions carried out by FTC over the 2009-2019 decade in the Chilean copper mining industry. Method: Review and synthesis of the FTC annual reports for the 2009-2019 period, using thematic content analysis. Results: Three topical areas emerged from our analysis: 1) institutional functioning, centered on FTC interactions with departments and company occupational health committees; 2) internal management decisions and actions, in terms of care and promotion of occupational health; and 3) external linkages with national and international social actors, in order to achieve the
union’s occupational health goals. Conclusions: The actions undertaken over this decade have been beneficial for the partners, making important contributions in public health matters involving Chilean copper mining workers.

En este escenario, la acción sindical ha involucrado el cuidado y la promoción de la salud en el rubro. En este artículo se da cuenta de las actividades realizadas en materia de salud laboral por la Federación de Trabajadores del Cobre (FTC), una importante organización sindical chilena que representa a 28 sindicatos y a más de 13.000 trabajadores de la empresa cuprífera estatal CODELCO. Objetivo: Caracterizar las acciones realizadas por la FTC durante una década en materia de cuidado y promoción de la salud laboral en la minería del cobre chileno. Método: Análisis documental de las memorias anuales de la FTC desde el año 2009 al año 2019 mediante el procedimiento de análisis de contenido temático. Resultados: Se construyeron tres temas de análisis. 1) El funcionamiento institucional, donde destaca la orgánica propia del FTC con departamentos y comisiones de trabajo relacionadas con la salud laboral 2) Las gestiones internas, en materia de cuidado y promoción de la salud laboral 3) La vinculación externa, con actores nacionales e internacionales para consecución de objetivos sindicales en salud en el trabajo.
