In particular, the need to stimulate on-the-job training through learning through work is taken into account, as well as the need to intensify the accompanying measures in the labor market. These measures to protect youth employment are currently necessary, given the pernicious effects of the current economic crisis linked to the pandemic. This study highlights the need to continue maintaining, and even increasing, the measures to promote youth employment. It is, therefore, a matter of developing policies to promote youth employment on an interventionist basis and with a view to correcting the high rates of youth unemployment. It even advocates the development of new preventive measures, which prevent the abandonment of training by young people. In this sense, it highlights the need to promote new professional opportunities for young people in the labor market.El presente trabajo reflexiona de forma transversal sobre las medidas actuales de protección del empleo juvenil. Dichas medidas se han diseñado desde la Unión Europea y se han desarrollado subsiguientemente en el mercado de trabajo español. Especialmente se tiene en cuenta la necesidad de estimular la formación en el empleo mediante el aprendizaje a través del trabajo, así como la necesidad de intensificar las medias de acompañamiento en el mercado de trabajo. Estas medidas de tutela del empleo juvenil son actualmente necesarias, dados los efectos perniciosos de la actual crisis económica ligada a la pandemia. A lo largo del trabajo se resalta la necesidad de seguir manteniendo, e incluso aumentado, las medidas de fomento del empleo juvenil. Se trata, pues, de desarrollar políticas intervencionistas de fomento del empleo de los jóvenes, con vistas a corregir las altas tasas de desempleo juvenil. Incluso, se aboga por el desarrollo de nuevas medidas preventivas, que eviten el abandono de la formación por parte de los jóvenes.
