Summary: The main goal of this article is to present the solidarity economy, under the prism of human capacities, based on Amartya Sen and Martha Nussbaum’s theory. The solidary economy revolves around the idea of solidarity, sustainability and inclusion in the system of production and distribution of goods and services. In this context, Martha Nussbaum's work, “Frontiers of Justice”, is revisited with the aim of identifying elements for the construction of a just social order. The methodology involves interdisciplinary research, with epistemological orientation in critical theory and brings together theory and praxis in the articulation of leading constitutionalism and economics, with the techniques of documentary analysis, statistics and bibliographic review, in view of the study of the feasibility of implementing the solidarity economy, through the formation of human capital at the local level. The expected results are to indicate tools that enable the observance of opportunities and the development of human capacities for the establishment of a civilizing level that reconciles economic growth with human development.
