In the knowledge practices are evident the dominant and emerging approaches, manifesting these in the ways of investigating and socializing knowledge. The constitution of the field of social studies on community development in Latin America and the Caribbean is in a constant process of changes and contradictions. There are few studies around the foundation and identification of the capitals present in the field, specifically those of authority and citation. The analysis of the mentioned capitals shows the agents with the greatest prestige and recognition on the part of the scientific community that is configured around the field. The objective of the study was to identify the capital of authority and citation within the scientific field of social studies about community development in Latin America and the Caribbean using as main author Pierre Bourdieu (1976) and his Theory of the Fields. The study classified as descriptive, longitudinal - retrospective. To obtain results, methods were used mainly the bibliometric method. The authors, journals and studies with the highest capital of authority were identified from the citation. A network of cited elements was made that integrated the sources used in the studies within the field. The citation as scientific capital showed an unconsolidated field with a predominance of dominant approaches to science.

A constituição do campo dos estudos sociais acerca do desenvolvimento comunitário na América Latina e no Caribe encontra-se num constante processo de mudanças e contradições. São insuficientes as evidências sobre os estudos em torno da fundamentação e identificação dos capitais presentes nos estudos sociais comunitários, especificamente os de autoridade e citação. A análise dos capitais mencionados mostra os agentes com maior prestígio e reconhecimento por parte da comunidade científica que se configura em redor do campo. Foi determinado como objectivo: identificar o capital de autoridade e citação dentro do campo científico dos estudos sociais acerca do desenvolvimento comunitário na América Latina e no Caribe, utilizando como principal autor Pierre Bourdieu (1976) e a sua Teoria dos Campos. O estudo foi classificado como descritivo, longitudinal – retrospectivo. Os métodos foram aplicados aos níveis teórico e empírico, fundamentalmente o método bibliométrico. Foram estabelecidos os autores, revistas e estudos com maior capital de autoridade, a partir da citação. A rede de elementos citados foi integrada nas fontes utilizadas nos estudos dentro do campo. A citação como capital científico mostrou um campo pouco consolidado com predomínio de enfoques dominantes da ciência.En la construcción del conocimiento se evidencian enfoques dominantes y emergentes, manifestándose estos en las formas de investigar y socializar el conocimiento. La constitución del campo de los estudios sociales acerca del desarrollo comunitario en América Latina y el Caribe se encuentra en un proceso constante de cambios y contradicciones. Se evidencian pocos estudios en torno a la fundamentación e identificación de los capitales presentes en los estudios sociales comunitarios, específicamente los de autoridad y citación. El análisis de los capitales mencionados muestra a los agentes con mayor prestigio y reconocimiento por parte de la comunidad científica que se configura alrededor del campo. Se planteó como objetivo: identificar el capital de autoridad y citación dentro del campo científico de los estudios sociales acerca del desarrollo comunitario en América Latina y el Caribe utilizando como principal autor a Pirre Bourdieu (1976) y su Teoría de los Campos. El estudio se clasificó como descriptivo, longitudinal – retrospectivo. Se emplearon métodos en los niveles teórico y empírico, fundamentalmente el método bibliométrico. Se establecieron los autores, revistas y estudios con mayor capital de autoridad a partir de la citación. Se realizó una red de elementos citados que integró las fuentes empleadas en los estudios dentro del campo.
