description
The capitalist system for many years has tried to violently supplant the agriculture exercised by the peoples of the world, while for ancestral communities food embodies a set of social practices that articulate the knowledge of the material with the symbolic, cultural and spiritual. the know-how together with the rhythms and times of nature itself. Methodologically, a review of the logic with which the hegemonic world agri-food system operates is presented, then the advantages of community food production are shown, which makes it possible to make a critical comparison of the forms of appropriation of the territory for the production of food. and contrast it with the deep connections of the communities with the spiritual and the cultural regarding food. It was found that the global agri-food system supports a regime of power and knowledge against life, while the food production of the peoples is concerned with protecting and defending life in the territories. It is concluded that the villages that produce food from the local must continue to organize themselves in social movements to fight against the hegemonic model of food production.
