Summary: In order to understand the current international scenario as regards democracy and terrorism, it is critical to keep in mind important aspects of our recent historical memory. For this reason, we must analyze the scope of the events that occurred on September 11, 2001, and their repercussion on a global level.On the international horizon it is possible to recognize a turn in United States foreign policy, the end of the George W. Bush administration, and the election of the new president, Barak Obama, who presented a change of global impact through measures such as resuming relations with Cuba, attempting to shut down the Guantanamo prison, and withdrawing occupying forces from countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan, among others.
