Summary: The COVID 19 pandemic has aggravated the factors of mental diseases in the penitentiaries institutions in the entire world, Latin America and, we can deduce, Ecuador. The studies about the psychological alterations of the private of freedom so as the guardian team in the prisons, has established that the presence of typical psychopathologies as psychopathy, Gan-ser syndrome, and the psychological and sociological factors of crime, even the violent crime, so as the correspondence between this mental diseases of this two groups, prisoners and guardians, because of the situational determination of the penitentiary establishment, characterized by total institution. The international organization has denounced conditions of overcrowding, violence and deplorable life conditions, in Latin America, included Ecuador, that aggravate the psychopa-thologies. This critical revision expect to contribute to the elaboration of a state of the question of this serious situation.
