Summary: Introduction: Gastroschisis is a congenital defect of the anterior abdominal wall, through which abdominal contents hernia, is a surgical emergency, the survival rate depends on ignorance of maternal and neonatal factors that do not allow timely intervention altering the prognosis of the neonate. Objectives: To determine the epidemiological profile, and predisposing risk factors in the presentation of this abdominal wall defect disease in the neonatal population attended at Francisco de Ycaza Bustamante Hospital evaluating their life prognosis of the different cases reviewed. Design: This is a cross-sectional descriptive retrospective study, performed at the Francisco de Ycaza Bustamante Hospital using data provided by the statistics service, with clinical records review, data are classified into maternal, neonataland surgical data. The frequency of morbidity is 78%, sepsis is 34%; Mortality was 26%.Conclusions: Gastroschisis a frequent surgical entity in the male sex, its risk factors are pregnancy at an early age; Few prenatal controls, absence of diagnosis, late transfer are the causes of complications and poor prognosis of the disease.
