They serve as a pillar of employment and business maintenance, trying to achieve as an objective unemployment curb and a less destruction of economic activity. However, as the health crisis lengthens, with an uncertain scenario, doubts about the sustainability of the successful of these STWS arise. The uneven situation between people with and without jobs (a duality reflected by temporary contracts, long-term unemployment, inactivity, as well as by vulnerable groups, such as young people and women, among others), and the arrival of the inevitable adjustment, via external flexibility, of certain sectors and companies, highlights the need to rethink the political agenda with measures that address the structural problems and weaknessesEn España, tras la llegada de la pandemia, los Expedientes de Regulación Temporal de Empleo (ERTEs) se han alzado como instrumentos esenciales para contener la caída del empleo. Al igual que en gran parte de la Unión Europea, estas figuras jurídicas absorben desde marzo gran protagonismo. Están sirviendo como pilar del mantenimiento de empleo y empresas, tratando de lograr como objetivo el freno del paro y una menor destrucción de actividad económica. Sin embargo, a medida que se alarga la crisis sanitaria, con un escenario aún de incertidumbre, se plantean preguntas sobre la sostenibilidad del logro de los ERTEs.
