Sumario: Aimed at the provision of care services or the generation, through work, of alternatives for social and labor inclusion of vulnerable people or groups, social cooperatives are characterized by being oriented towards a mission of general interest. These types of entities, which, in fact, are structured as work or service cooperatives, have been acquiring a greater presence in Argentina in recent years within the framework of the expansion of the sector of the social economy. Considering this, this work attempts to make an approximation to the normative characterization that social cooperatives receive in the Argentine legal system. The study allows to specify that the characterization that social cooperatives receive in the Argentine legal system, since the validity of Resolution INAES 1/2019, agrees, in general terms, with the prevailing conception, about this type of figures, in comparative law and with the position of the International Organization of Cooperatives in Industry and Services (CICOPA) and approaches, at the same time, to certain purposes that inspired some of the public inclusion policies implemented in Argentina in recent decades.
