Summary: Abstract The objective of this article is to identify the concept of disability in the laws related to the focus of occupational health rights for people with disabilities in Colombia. The normative production on this thematic axis was revised after the ratification of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (United Nations Organization, 2006) given in 2011. The research is qualitative and its methodological approach is the hermeneutic -comprehensive and was carried out through a content analysis. The results showed that with regard to the concept of disability, a change of language is reflected from the medical or rehabilitative vision to the social vision in which impairments and barriers to participation and equality are taken into account and, in general, the expressions people with disabilities and / or disables, on the other hand the concept of disability emerged two important terms: approaches to rights and benefits for recruitment. However, in spite of the conceptual advances in the same norms, there are contradictory aspects that make their application innocuous and / or complex in order to achieve the application of the pressupossition of the aforementioned Convention and the effective exercise of the rights of persons with disability.
