Often, due to the scarcity of direct evidence, judges have to use signs to support the guilt of the person being investigated. In this sense, the presence of fingerprints, DNA tests, witnesses or facts observed during the eye inspection are necessary for the judges to reach legal certainty about the guilt of the subject. However, currently, no attention is being paid to the characteristics of human odor, which remains at the crime scene and allows dogs to quickly identify it. In this line, forensic odorology, through the odorological expert report, can become one more piece of evidence that, together with the plurality of indications required by Spanish jurisprudence, allow reinforcing the unidirectional and indirect nature of the evidence evidence.En el proceso penal es fundamental que los tribunales posean todos los medios de pruebas posibles para poder enervar el Derecho Fundamental a la Presunción de Inocencia. Es frecuente que, ante la escasez de pruebas directas, los juzgadores tengan que hacer uso de la prueba basada en indicios para fundamentar la culpabilidad del investigado. En este sentido, la concurrencia de huellas dactilares, pruebas de ADN, testigos o hechos observados durante la inspección ocular son necesarios para que los juzgadores alcancen la certeza jurídica sobre la culpabilidad del sujeto. Sin embargo, actualmente, no se está prestando atención a las características del olor humano, que permanece en la escena del crimen y permite que los canes puedan identificarlo rápidamente.
