The approaches that study research collaboration dynamics with a binary: “North - South” and “Center - Periphery” tend not to recognize the arbitrariness of the international scientific system and those analyzes reduce the impact of how research groups from the Global South actually perform research collaborations. Our work aims to respond and discuss: With whom do researchers in International Relations (RI) of Mercosur collaborate? What are the objectives of these associations? Are agendas imposed from the North? What are the main motivations and interests of the agents for scientific collaboration? For this, we recover contributions from the field of social studies of science and propose an exploratory analysis of a multiple case study of Mercosur research groups focused on the researcher’s point of view in order to revisit the agents’ perspective. The work will have two dimensions: an analysis based on bibliometric information of the productions of local researchers in SCOPUS and WOS and another that inquires about the process of meaningfulness of these groups regarding the questions raised through interviews and focus groups to research groups of the field of International Relations of Mercosur |
