Sumario: The most important transformations that the concept of transitional justice has undergone, the main virtues of restorative justice mechanisms, and the conceptual and practical challenges facing a public policy for the construction and preservation of historical memory in Colombia are analyzed in this article. It is concluded that the implementation of restorative justice mechanisms, specifically related to historical memory, constitutes an important advance compared to transitional justice models. However, it is also argued that it is still necessary to deepen into reflections on the importance of historical memory in a country that still suffers from the effects of past and present violence, as well as to consolidate memory as an instrument that effectively contributes to peace and to comprehensive reparation of the victims.
