Applying a non-probabilistic sampling, we used a self-reported questionnaire with 381 stu-dents of Spanish public high schools. Our results suggest that the participants that lis-ten to trap, reggaeton and rap music show significantly higher levels of delinquency in comparison to those who prefer pop and rock music. Throughout the study of life-time prevalence and incidence, it cannot be established causality between the studied variables. Regarding future research a se-ries of improvements are proposed oriented towards the employment of an alternative designLa música está presente en la vida de los seres humanos desde la pronta infancia. Aun así, pocas investigaciones criminológicas se han focalizado en el rol de la música durante la adolescencia. Esta investigación explora la relación entre la preferencia por un género mu-sical y la delincuencia en adolescentes. Se ha utilizado un cuestionario de autoinforme aplicado, a través de un muestreo no-probabilístico, a 381 jóvenes de 14 a 18 años, alumnos de institutos públicos españoles. Los resultados sugieren que las personas que escuchan música trap, reggaetón o rap presentan niveles significativamente más elevados de delincuencia en comparación a los que prefieren la música pop y rock. Sin embargo, mediante el estudio de la prevalencia e incidencia vida, no se puede establecer relación de causalidad entre las variables estudia-das.
