These acquire special relevance in criminology, specifically when studies address sensitive issues or when the target population is not easily located, as is the case of the research on immigration and crime. The aim of this article is to discuss the methodological challenges related to the delinquency of immigrants, based on DIA Project - Crime of settled immigrants in Malaga. The results show limitations of the social research. From our empirical experience, we highlight those methodological challenges and biases, par-ticularly related to criminological research on immigrant population. Our purpose is to contribute to the discussion of the research process, essential for improving the meth-odological strategies in criminology.Acercarse a los objetos de estudio propios de la criminolo-gía requiere especialmente tener presente aspectos metodológicos. La relación entre la criminología y la metodología es compleja. Si bien exis-ten métodos rigurosos que permiten reducir los sesgos y subjetividades propias de la investigación científico-social, persisten limitaciones y de-safíos metodológicos sobre los que es necesario debatir. En criminolo-gía, estos adquieren una importancia especial cuando se abordan temas sensibles o cuando la población de estudio no es fácilmente localizable, como cuando se explora la relación entre inmigración y delincuencia. El objetivo de este artículo es discutir estos desafíos metodológicos a partir del Proyecto Delincuencia de inmigrantes asentados en Málaga. Los resultados evidencian desde la experiencia práctica, los desafíos y sesgos específicos de la investigación criminológica con población in-migrante.
