Summary: |
There has been a debate for a long time in Galicia about the oversupply of municipal industrial
estate. The data provided by the Ministry of Development show that there are currently about 6900 hectares of land classified as an industrial park. Half of the parks have an occupation of less than 50%, and
therefore an large proportion is vacant. This research analyzes the degree of development and occupation
of industrial parks, as well as the motivations of the different agents involved in the development. The
results show how the decision to offer industrial land depends on more factors than the demand side of
firms. Reasons such as the competitive pressure between municipalities to attract growth plays, at least,
a role that is not negligible. |
