Summary: The study presents the analysis of the participatory budgeting exercise in the Municipal Decentralized Autonomous Government of the Canton La Concordia of the Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas province in Ecuador, with the objective of identifying if this has been an effective tool to promote citizen participation and if it has fulfilled its purposes, processes and results. Based on an investigation with a qualitative-quantitative approach, with a case study design, the level of compliance with the regulations, budget execution, and the inclusion of the proposals made in the assemblies to determine the incidence of these results were identified in attendance and adherence to them, in contrast to the profiles and levels of knowledge of those attending the citizen assemblies.
