Summary: The intention of this paper lies in contributing to the philosophical discussion regarding       the effects of including aesthetic concepts into political activity. Castoriadis’ ontological conception of imagination will be exposed and Schmitt’s critique of romanticism will be presented, in order to compare the effects of the aestheticization of political action in the authors. The paper as a whole pretends to take advantage of this comparison to elucidate a broader issue: that of the advantages and disadvantages of the aestheticization of political action in modern societies.
