Summary: The network of federal protected areas administered by the National State, through the National Parks Administration (APN), is currently composed of two systems (or subsystems): the eminently continental system regulated by law 22,351 - Legal Regime of National Parks, Natural Monuments and National Reserves - and the marine system regulated by law 27,037 - National System of Marine Protected Areas. The present work aims to analyze both the most conspicuous administrative and legal aspects of the marine system created by law 27,037, as well as those of coastal, marine and insular protected areas that, without belonging to the system created by this law, are also totally or partially managed by the National State through the APN.
