This modernity fell into crisis in the twentieth century, making explode the violence that our country was a victim of during the eighties and in which context the social state based on the rule of law, adopted by the National Constituent Assembly in the 1991 Political Constitution arose which, with the elements that particularize it, seems to pretend offering a solution to the crisis of modernity.En las siguientes páginas se intenta mostrar que Colombia, a fi nales del siglo XIX, ingresó en la dinámica mundial de la modernidad, a través de una modernización sui géneris y del modernismo, tanto cultural como político.
