Summary: This work has the aim of analyzing the regulatory aspects of consumer protection in electronic commerce from a global point of view. It begins analyzing the form that consumer protection takes in the e-business environment, to then focus on the discussion between regulation through law and self-regulation. That discussion is followed by the analysis of the options available to reach a balance between the need of fostering e-business and the protection of consumer rights. The works ends with a personal vision on which of the presented options would achieve the aim of establishing an ebusiness friendly environment while guaranteeing consumer rights.
