Summary: Overcoming information asymmetry is a central element in the treatment of consumer-supplier relationships. Based on this premise, the present study tackles the state of the art of the general pre-contractual information duty and consumer protection, study focused on the main economies of Latin America, with emphasis on the Chilean case. Additionally, the paper presents proposals to improve the scope of this general pre-contractual duty, in the context of the Chilean consumer law.
