Summary: This article is one of the products of the research “Economic Autonomy of Womenin Nariño”, developed by the Nariño Gender Observatory. This document refers to one ofits results: The international and national legal basis on the autonomy and economic rightsof women. Of all the violence (sexual, physical, psychological) that affect their lives (whosecauses are remote and perhaps invisible), economic violence is one of the most relevantfor its effects both in the family, as in the construction of identity and female citizenship. This problem has been a matter of Declarations, agreements and universal Conventions;however, women’s lives are very distant from such mandates. For this reason, the Stateshave committed themselves to the realization of these rights closely linked to the principlesof equality, non-discrimination and human dignity. From the CEDAW to the SDGs, gender equality was incorporated into official agendas, admitting that without this condition it is not possible to overcome poverty or boost theeconomy. Colombia, on the other hand, acquired commitments with the achievement ofinternational standards on the economic autonomy of women. Contributing to promotethese achievements is the purpose of this writing.
