Sumario: After years of waiting, in November 2018 the European co-legislator has finally adopted the new Regulation (EU) 2018/1727 on the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust). This EU act, which shall apply from December 2019, will replace and repeal the Decision 2002/187/JHA of the Council currently in force and shall adapt Eurojust to the new primary law in force after the Lisbon Treaty. This paper aims to determine whether the new Regulation actually explores the new opportunities laid down in arts. 85 and 86 TFEU through the analysis of three different issues: the objectives and competence of Eurojust, the functions of the College and the nature of the relationship between the Agency and the forthcoming EPPO.
