Unfortunately, the European Union continues ignoring this reality. Even though it is true that over the last years the concept of multiple discrimination has been recognized; it is also true that, from a practical point of view, a real intersectional approach is nonexistent. In this context, the objective of this work consists in analyzing the different initiatives adopted by the Union and the Member States to respond to the cases where women are discriminated for multiple reasons, putting special attention in the need of adopting a new concept, one that could be obtained from a global focus and could also represent the diversity of existing identities in society.La discriminación múltiple no es un fenómeno de data reciente en la Unión Europea. No es nueva la idea de que algunas víctimas de discriminación (especialmente las mujeres) lo son por varios factores asociados a estereotipos negativos hondamente arraigados en nuestra sociedad. Lamentablemente, la Unión Europea continúa ignorando esta realidad. Si bien es cierto que durante los últimos años se ha reconocido el concepto de discriminación múltiple, no lo es menos que en la práctica no existe un verdadero enfoque interseccional.
