Summary: Recently, various initiatives have been presented to formulate a Mexico City’s Development Planning Law. These proposals seek to establish communication channels that allow citizens to participate in decision-making related to urban planning. Therefore, this document analyzes various mechanisms for citizen participation in urban metropolitan management processes. To do this, first some elements of the State-society relations and participation mechanisms are described. Subsequently, some specific cases of citizen incidence in metropolitan urban management activities are examined. Finally, the conclusions of this analysis are presented
