Biblical Foundations for the Separation of Powers and the Catalysing Function of JudgesFundamentos bíblicos da separação de poderes e a função catalisadora do juizThis article maintains that the Bible offers a sound foundation for the principle of separation of powers. From a reconstruction of the concept of ‘separation of powers’, this paper defends the claim that the Holy Scriptures grant judges the function of encouraging political authorities to behave virtuously in order to protect the rights and best interest of people.
