On September 26, 2014, the day of the events, three students of the Escuela Normal Rural Raúl Isidro Burgos de Ayotzinapa, in the Mexican state of Guerrero, were deprived of their lives, twenty-five were injured, and forty-three disappeared. Investigations by the Attorney General of the State of Guerrero and the Attorney General of the Republic have led to the detention of approximately ninety-nine people, including the former municipal president of Iguala and his wife, as well as dozens of police officers from the municipalities of Iguala and Cocula. Several members of the ─thus self-described- cartel of the "united warriors" are also being prosecuted. To conclude with the exemplification of this case and to enter into a brief analysis, I would like to highlight the following data:1. Some detainees ─today indicted─ have stated that they "proceeded" to carry out the operation through a direct instruction from the then municipal president, who would have ordered action against the normalists of Ayotzinapa who were on various buses in the Municipality of Iguala.According to the Procuraduría General de la República, it was also confirmed that once the normalists had been arrested, the police were instructed to hand them over to the members of the "united warriors" cartel ─which, according to statements by the detainees themselves, actually happened─.3. The members of the cartel, now detained, are said to have secured two things. That their leader is the wife of the former municipal president and that the students were murdered, their bodies incinerated in a municipal garbage dump and their ashes thrown into the San Juan river.4. The former municipal president of Iguala and his wife are being prosecuted for various crimes, including kidnapping, organized crime and money laundering, but not for the forced disappearance of persons. The events described translate into a challenge of enormous dimensions for the Mexican State and its institutions. To determine whether or not we are dealing with a crime of forced disappearance of persons. To determine whether or not we are faced with a case of mediated authorship, by dominion of the will, in an organized apparatus of power.

To determine whether or not we are dealing with a crime of forced disappearance of persons.
